Our Theme: Hidden Treasures
An idea itself doesn’t have value until we find a certain worth in it. It is the individual who based on past experiences, places, and encounters associates the tangible and intangible objects with having a certain meaning. This is of course, is a highly subjective process and is strongly determined by our knowledge, our emotions and our circumstances. Therefore, what we consider to be a ‘treasure’ is dependent on our perspective.
There are two kinds of hidden treasures, the mundane ones which we seem to oversee due to their routine occurrence in our daily lives. Such is the case with drinkable water. It is a basic necessity and yet unlike our easily accessible tap water there are people who do not have this privilege and place a high value on it. The other kind of treasure is one which isn’t in plain sight. It is limitless ranging from the microscopic organelles, to long lost manuscripts, to the caves that have yet to be discovered, to the depths of the ocean and what resides below.
Therefore, with this year’s theme in mind, we would like to invite you on a treasure hunt. Together, with you, we’re heading towards an adventure of discovery. So join us as we go looking for the unnoticed, eavesdrop for the unheard, decipher the encrypted and search for the hidden.
About our speakers
At TEDx, we are looking for speakers year-round, who will inform and inspire, surprise and delight the audience. Our speakers are trusted voices and convention-breaking icons and geniuses.
TEDx isn’t a typical conference. The TEDx audience has high expectations of the speakers; the TEDx speaker team works with speakers well in advance of the conference to help shape a presentation that will succeed on the TEDx stage. TEDx is the place to give the talk of your life.
Who we are looking for
TEDx talks cover a vast array of topics. If you’ve identified a unique issue that is important to share, the TEDx platform can be a perfect place to do it.
Perhaps you have identified a challenge or problem that is crucial to solve and you have solutions to propose. Ideas that resonate within you are likely to do the same for others.
The TEDx stage is your chance to present an idea, issue, or a new spin on an existing topic that has never been discussed before. TEDx stage is not a platform to sell products or promote individuals or businesses with the intention of making a profit from their talk or product they may present. You shall not plagiarize or impersonate other persons – living or dead.

The TED Commandments
Dream big. Strive to create the best talk you have ever given. Reveal something new/never seen before. Do something the audience will remember forever. Share an idea that could change the world.
Show us the real you. Share your passions, your dreams … and also your fears. Be vulnerable. Speak of failure as well as success.
Make the complex plain. Don’t try to dazzle intellectually. Don’t speak in abstractions. Explain! Give examples. Tell stories. Be specific.
Connect with people’s emotions. Make us laugh! Make us cry!
Don’t flaunt your ego. Don’t boast. It’s the surest way to switch everyone off.
No selling from the stage! Unless we have specifically asked you to, do not talk about your company or organization. And don’t even think about pitching your products or services or asking for funding from stage.
Don’t read your talk.
End your talk on time. Doing otherwise is to steal time from the people who follow you. We won’t allow it.
Rehearse your talk in front of a trusted friend … for timing, for clarity, for impact.
Content: Speakers must be able to confirm the claims presented in every talk — TED and TEDx are exceptional stages for showcasing advances in science, and we can only stay that way if the claims presented in our talks can stand up to scrutiny from the scientific community. TED is also not the right platform for talks with an inflammatory political or religious agenda, nor polarizing “us vs them” language. If Talks fail to meet the standards above, TED reserves the right to insist on their removal.
